Hook /hōōk/ n. - The catchiest and most memorable part of a song, often the chorus.
Club /kləb/ n. - An association or organization dedicated to a particular interest or activity.
The Hook Club n. - The dopest wedding band in NYC, dedicated to playing only the best hooks in existence.
The Hook Club is one of New York City’s most exciting and unique live wedding bands, known for our attention to every musical detail and the professionalism we bring to every event. Our versatile and modern ensembles can be customized to fit with any party, and we work closely with our clients to make sure our playlist is designed around you and your guests. Whether it’s a black tie ballroom wedding, or a rustic barn party, The Hook Club will come dressed to the nines and ready to rock!
Our goal is to take every audience on a journey that they will never forget - from timeless classics to the dance hits of today, our instrumentalists will dazzle crowds for hours on end with our high-energy arrangements, while our amazing vocalists get the crowd dancing and singing on the dance floor. We have a saying on stage - “A THC show is not a spectator sport!” When we play, we get the whole room involved, and everyone leaves feeling like a member of the band.
Our Story

(2009-2015)
The founding members of the band met as music majors at Bard College and started a cover band called The Hook Club. It began with a Stevie Wonder tribute night at The Black Swan, a local dive bar in Tivoli, New York. That led to a standing Thursday-night residency, and as the months and years went by, the band expanded into other artists and themed shows by popular demand. Eventually, people from the bar started asking us to play their weddings and events — and while we were still in college, we started gigging across the Hudson Valley.
The Come Up
(2016-2020)
Footage from our first NYC wedding at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.After graduation, we moved to New York together. We hustled — playing wherever we could — and quickly landed a Saturday-night residency at Groove in Greenwich Village, five-hour sets of R&B and original music that helped solidify the sound and roster of the band. Those nights led to our first NYC wedding at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and from there the calendar kept growing. After our first full year in business, we had accumulated enough 5-star reviews to win Best of The Knot 2019.
The Now
(2021-Present)
Performing in Paris in 2024The Hook Club now performs exclusively at weddings. The bulk of our calendar keeps us in New York, but we love to travel across the U.S. and beyond. We deliberately limit how many weddings we take on each year - that cap is what lets us keep the same core team, the same chemistry, and the same energy we built at The Black Swan. We manage ourselves out of our headquarters in NYC, with all of our bookings, sound and lighting done in-house.
After about 10 years of performing for weddings, we decided to begin offering videography services. As the entertainment provider, we get to know every wedding timeline backwards and forwards — and the vision each couple has for the day. That insight is why we've partnered with the team behind our studio videos to offer cinematic, high-quality, and subtle wedding videos for our couples.
Our long experience playing weddings, our vast repertoire, and our codified planning process also led us to design and debut our own custom music planning portal — a place for couples to collaborate with us and find the best combination of our experience and their taste.
We do things our way. The roster has grown, the calendar has filled, and the team keeps building — but the spirit is the same one we built on Thursday nights at The Black Swan, and that's what we bring to every wedding.
